How to Sign Up and Enter Art Competitions on ArtCall.org

This instructional video shows how to

• Find Wild Heart Gallery's art calls on our website

• Go to the art call prospectus and entry page on ArtCall

• Register/sign up for ArtCall

• Add one or more submissions to your entry

• Do basic editing of the image(s) during upload, if needed

• Edit submission details

• Edit or change the image associated with your submission

Steps for How to Sign Up with ArtCall.org

These instructions will show you how to sign up for one of our calls for art on ArtCall.org. ArtCall.org is the website and jurying service we use to manage our art calls. They help keep everything organized for us and accessible for entrants.

Super Short Instructions for the Tech Saavy

This section gives you a very short and very direct set of instructions to apply for our art calls. For more thorough instructions start with the Full Length Instructions, below.

1. Go to wildheartgallery.com/competitions

2. Tap the art call you're entering and read the prospectus/info

3. Tap Apply Now 

4. Tap Register and Apply

5. Fill out the form and tap Got It!

6. Fill out the form and tap Update User Profile

7. Tap Add New Submission +

8. Enter credit card details and tap Submit Payment

9. Fill out the Entry Details form for 1 art piece and tap Submit Your Entry Details

10. Tap + Attach File and upload 1 image file (3D pieces only can have up to 3 image files per art piece)

11. When upload is complete, tap Got It!

12. To submit a second piece, tap Add New Submission + and repeat steps 9-11.

Start on our homepage, wildheartgallery.com

1. Tap Calls for Art in the top menu to get to wilheartgallery.com/competitions.

2. Click on an art call (the image or the text).

   The page for that art call opens. Please read the basic instructions and/or the prospectus.

3. Tap Apply Now

ArtCall Basics

The ArtCall.org website loads; this website manages all of our art call entries.

• Read through everything here: entry requirements; deadline for entries; notification of jury results; and the virtual show dates; etc.

• If you have additional questions on how to apply, scroll down on the ArtCall page and watch the New Users Tutorial video that was created by ArtCall. It has more detail than the instructions below.

• More questions? Use the Contact button at the top of the ArtCall page to email Wild Heart Gallery.

Register and Apply

You can either Register, or you can Login if you already have an ArtCall account.

1. Tap Register and Apply.

2. Create a user account (if you have already done this, tap login instead). Enter your First Name, Last Name or Surname, and Email Address, and create a Password.

3. Tap Create Account.

4. Read the popup window and tap Got It.

5. Verify the information is correct. Edit or add any information as needed.

6. Enter your Country.

7. Optional: Enter how you learned about this art call.

8. Optional: Please enter your social media usernames, Facebook URL, and/or website URL to help us direct people to you.

9. Tap Update User Profile.

Pay the Submission Fee

ArtCall asks for payment first. We know it's strange, but it's more efficient for artists, gallerists, and ArtCall.

1. Tap Add New Submission +.

2. Add your credit card information. (Wild Heart Gallery does not have access to this information. It is dealt with securely by ArtCall.org. Wild Heart Gallery never sees your credit card number.)

   Only credit cards are accepted by ArtCall.org If PayPal is your only option, contact Wild Heart Gallery by tapping the Contact button at the top of the screen. We have a workaround for accepting PayPal, but it can take a little time so plan accordingly.

3. Once your credit card information is entered, tap Submit Payment.

Submit an Art Piece/Image of your work

The Submit Entry Page loads.

• This is where you will add entry details and upload your images.

• There is a 60 minute time limit for entering information. Don’t stress. You can tap Submit Entry Details at any time and then edit your entry later. Per ArtCall, data is auto-saved every minute for recovery.

Art Piece Details

Enter the details about your art piece. You will go through this process for each separate art piece you submit.

1. Read through the additional information section that begins, “Please fill out the form to the best of your ability.”

2. Choose the Category that best describes your art piece. If you aren’t sure which category to choose, select Other Media.

3. Enter the Title of the art piece. Please enter only one title.

4. Enter the Dimensions in inches. Type in Height, Width, and Depth in inches.

   • If the art piece is framed, please do not include the frame size. Please only type in the size of the art piece.

   • If the art piece is 2D (like a drawing, painting, print, etc.), you can enter 0 or an estimate for Depth.

   • For 3D work (like sculptures, pottery, etc.), please be reasonably accurate for all three dimensions.

5. Enter the Description/Statement. Tell the judges about this specific art piece in your own words. Please keep this under 500 characters; 1-3 sentences are usually enough. If your submitted art piece is selected, the description/statement may be used in the exhibition and/or on social media. If you used reference material, please include that reference info here.

6. Enter the Sale Price. If the work is for sale, please enter the amount. If the work is Not For Sale, please enter 0.

7. Linked Video / File URL, please leave this blank as we do not currently accept video or audio entries.

8. Enter the Medium and/or materials used in the art piece, i.e. oil on canvas, found-object sculpture, pastels, linocut print on paper, etc.

9. Check the box for “I agree to terms and conditions.”

10. Tap Submit Your Entry Details.

Upload Image

You are now ready to add the image file of your art piece!

• 2D art pieces: 1 image file per submission only.

• 3D art pieces (i.e. sculpture, ceramics, etc.): 1-3 image files per submission so that judges can see different angles/views of your 3D piece.

• JPG, GIF, and PNG files are all acceptable.

NOTE: Please keep image files under 5MB. ArtCall can handle up to 10MB, but Wild Heart Gallery will reduce the file size of images to 5MB. It’s best if the image file submitted is already 5MB or less. Please keep image dimensions between 1080px and 4500px. ArtCall allows images as small as 960px, but Wild Heart Gallery needs them a little bigger.

1. Tap + Attach File

2. Either Drag-and-Drop your image file into the popup window or Browse to navigate to the image file on your system, select it, and tap Upload.

3. Once the image appears inside the preview window, tap Done.

4. Upload progress is shown. Wait until upload completes before you do anything else.

5. Read the pop up dialog box.

6. Tap Got It! to continue.

7. For 2D art pieces, continue to the next section of instruction. For 3D art pieces, continue to Step 8.

8. For 3D art pieces only, to add additional views of your art piece, tap + Attachment and repeat steps 2-6. 3D art pieces can have up to 3 images.

You're art piece is successfully submitted!

Add a Second Art Piece

Most of our art calls allow 1-2 art pieces to be submitted. Adding a second art piece is optional.

1. Tap Add New Submission +.

2. Repeat the same steps as above: Art Piece Details and Upload Image

And that’s it!

You can now see that 2 pieces are submitted. Each piece should be in a separate row with its own individual ID number, Title, and Attachment/image thumbnail.

• All 2D pieces will have only 1 Attachment/image file per submitted art piece. If a 2D piece has more than 1 Attachement/image file assigned to it, please delete it. (See below.)

• 3D art pieces may have up to 3 Attachments/image files per submitted art piece.

• Tap View Details to make sure you entered information correctly.

• Tap Edit on the right to make changes to the Art Piece Details you entered.

• Tap Edit below an Attachment/image thumbnail to delete that one Attachment/image thumbnail. Use this is you added the wrong image file, too many image files, etc.

• Tap the Trashcan to delete your submission so that you can start over.

• If you delete all Attachments/images, a dialog box will appear to make it easy for you to add a new image file.

When you are done, you can log out by tapping your User Name to the top and then tapping Log Out

An email will be sent to you from ArtCall.org with instructions on how to access your entry so that you can edit it, etc.
