Artist Statement
I discovered art by chance. At 34, while changing careers, I began painting as a hobby. Within two years, I knew I had to dedicate my life to it. Earning an MA in Fine Art confirmed something I already felt deeply: it's never too late to follow what you love.
My work explores the connection between humans and dogs—a theme that became central after I moved to Ireland. Through my own dog, I found comfort, inspiration, and the heart of my practice: Madra Art (madra means "dog" in Irish).
My first solo exhibition, Irish Dog Portraiture, celebrated Ireland’s nine native breeds, combining
photo-realistic detail with traditional painting techniques. These portraits aren’t just likenesses—
they’re tributes to loyalty, resilience, and the deep emotional bonds we share with animals.
During 2024–2025 my work has been shown at the RHA Dublin, SWA London, and the Kilkenny
Portrait Prize. Each piece invites viewers to reflect on the relationships that shape their lives. My
journey—from starting late to committing fully to art—proves that passion doesn’t have an expiration
date.
My approach is simple: create what moves you, work with intention, and let the art speak for itself.
