Meet Guest Juror, Mary Kamerer

Artist, Mary Kamerer
Julie Anna Freund

Artist Statement:

“Having my early creative beginnings in black and white photography, light and shadows became paramount in my work. Becoming a painter was no different in terms of what I wanted to accomplish. I always start my paintings with a value study and strong composition and end each one with accentuated light. I feel that that is my primary task as an artist: to show how light falls on the subject, and I attempt to give my viewer that experience of seeing the subject ‘in new light’ when I paint. My style is of an impressionistic nature, with liberal use of pallet knives, brushes and other various tools.”

Artist Bio:

Mary was born and educated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1987.
