BEST IN SHOW

Near Me Always, by Jessica MacKenzie
Jessica MacKenzie

Near Me Always, by Jessica MacKenzie 16 x 20 inches, Polychromos colored pencil on black artboard

From the artist, "My late kitty, Munchy, was always near me no matter where I was. She was always with me then, and she is always with me now."

Those eyes and the foreshortened composition of this drawing hypnotized the judges on this one. There's motion and emotion. We love the circular movements and how it's cut through the middle with the pendulum of a play thing.

OVERALL RUNNER UP

Mooning Cat, byKiril Krastev-Kiroki
by Kiril Krastev-Kiroki

Mooning Cat, by Kiril Krastev-Kiroki 50 x 70 cm, Mixed media on paper

From the artist, "Mooning Cat."

The open, simple composition of this hind-view of a chonk-alicious cat is satisfying. The drawing is as refined and finished as it needs to be: no more, no less. Even though the cat is facing the moon, it is still paying attention to us. All you have to do is look at the ear position to know!

BEST DOMESTIC CAT
